## Our Process

1. Preparation: The majority of visible moss is carefully removed by hand using small hand tools and a leaf blower. Loose debris is cleared from the roof, skylights, and gutters. The grounds are tidied before departure. Pressure washing is never used as it is not recommended by roofing product manufacturers, the RCABC, or Consumer Reports.
2. Application: Thomson's proprietary non-toxic, pet-safe, and garden-safe solution is applied across the entire prepped roof surface. It neutralizes any remaining moss, lichen, mold, and mildew spores and root systems. Dead moss debris washes away naturally over subsequent rainfall, gradually restoring the roof's appearance.
3. Maintenance: An individually specified moss-free guarantee of 12 to 24 months is provided. When the warranty period nears its end, clients are contacted for re-treatment to prevent regrowth from ever taking hold again.

## Warranty

After each treatment, Thomson Roof Treatment provides an individually determined moss-free guarantee ranging from 12 to 24 months. The exact duration depends on factors such as nearby tree coverage and other conditions that influence moss regrowth rates. If any moss concerns arise during the warranty period, TRT will return to address them at no additional cost. Roofs should be re-treated promptly at the end of the warranty period to avoid moss re-rooting, as delaying re-treatment does not reduce the long-term monthly cost of maintenance but can result in additional prep charges if significant regrowth has occurred.

## Scheduling

Clients are notified by email or phone the day before work is scheduled in their neighbourhood. Due to unpredictable weather, advance notice cannot be given further out. Work is weather permitting and subject to change.

## FAQs

- Do I need to be home for a quote? No -- as long as the property is accessible so the roof can be viewed from the ground.
- Do I need to be home during the work? No -- ensure any locks blocking roof or yard access are left unlocked in advance.
- Are you insured? Yes, fully insured. WorkSafeBC certification number: 200670049. Roof anchors may be used as part of the fall protection plan and will be removed upon job completion.
- What should I do before the visit? Close all windows, move vehicles away from the building, and ensure access to exterior water. Protect any patio furniture, open pools, or ponds that TRT cannot access directly.
- Do you do gutter cleaning or repairs? No -- TRT specializes in roof demossing treatment only. Referrals to local companies can be provided upon request.
- Is gutter clearing included? Yes, clearing of open gutters is included with the initial treatment. During re-treatment, an additional charge may apply if gutters are heavily compacted and have not been cleared regularly.
- Why not use pressure washing? Pressure washing is not recommended by roofing product manufacturers, the RCABC, and Consumer Reports, as it damages roof materials. TRT's hand-removal and solution method is safer and more effective long-term.
